After almost six years in the USA and a year of planning, my long-anticipated Off The Road project is finally on its way. This week I am leaving the city for a summer-long trip west. My goal is to explore more parts of this country, connect to it through its land, people, and sub-cultures. I will divide my time between art residencies and independent exploration, focusing on several areas where natural and human history are uniquely interlaced.
I will hike and camp extensively experiencing the land through all senses, paint and draw from observation. I will meet locals, naturalists, conservationists, and ecologists and learn about the places I visit. During the residencies I will work at the studio on larger scale paintings, continuing my Eco-Fiction series imbuing them with elements that I collect in my explorations.
